A Prayer of Dedication for 2020

Church 2

Shared as part of our worship service on Sunday, January 5, 2020.

Leader: Our Father, as we begin this new year we confess our need of your presence and your guidance as we face the future. You alone know what this year holds for us and only you can give us the strength and the wisdom we will need to meet its challenges. So help us to humbly put our hands into your hand, to trust you and seek your will for our lives.

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come and this year may your will be done in this place.

People: We dedicate again to you, O Lord, this worship and ministry centre. May it be used always to advance the work of the Gospel and the glorifying of your great name.

Leader: Lord God, we are your chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, those who belong to you, and those who have received mercy. Give us always hearts of worship and praise, fill this place with your presence, teach us your ways, and show us your glory.

People: We dedicate ourselves to be faithful in worship, to not forsake the assembling of ourselves together and to encourage one another daily - and all the more as we see the Day approaching.

Leader: Lord Jesus, you have called us and commissioned us as your servants in mission and sent us to bear much fruit in making disciples. To do this, you have promised us the power of the Holy Spirit.

People: We dedicate our hearts, minds and gifts to your service and ask you to fill us with the Holy Spirit.

Leader: Lord Jesus, May there be hundreds of people who become your disciples this year. Bless us with the great joy of seeing our families, our friends, and our community come to faith in you.

People: We dedicate ourselves to the great task of making disciples and pray this year there will be many baptisms to the praise of your glorious grace.

Leader: Holy Spirit, open our eyes to see the needs and hurts of those around us. Help us to love one another, encourage one another, comfort one another, and serve each other in humility and kindness.

People: We dedicate ourselves to each other and pray you will give us always hearts of compassion and a readiness to forgive.

Leader: Triune God, make us a people of your Word; a people who love your Word, study your Word and live by your Word. Help us to make your Word fully known, so that we, your people, might become fully mature in Christ.

People: We dedicate ourselves to hiding your Word in our hearts that we might not sin against you and so that Christ will be formed in us.

Leader: And now, Lord God, we offer you our hearts, our lives, our dreams, our desires, our future - we offer you this year. It all belongs to you. May West Highland be a place of flourishing. To you be glory in the church and in the world, now and forever.

People: AMEN!
