Letter About Re-Opening

From Pastor John's Desk

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Premier Ford’s encouraging announcement on Monday that places of worship can reopen at 30% capacity is certainly an answer to prayer that we are all rejoicing about. Over the past three weeks I have been involved in several zoom conference chat calls with other religious leaders and Members of Provincial Parliament. This gave us hope that the government was working hard and desired to see churches and other places of worship open again. But, as you can imagine, this clearance to reopen at 30% capacity, presents us with big logistical challenges. The Ministry Team and Action Committee are presently busily engaged in implementing a re-opening plan and recruiting the needed volunteers to ensure that re-opening for worship and ministry will be safe for everyone.  We have lots of work to do to get things ready and make certain we are providing a healthy environment that meets government guidelines which are being rolled out.

At this point in time we are not yet ready to share all the details of the re-opening plan, but to help us get there we need your help and involvement in three important areas.

  • Please pray for the Ministry Team, Elders and Action Committee. We need much wisdom in fine tuning and implementing the re-opening plan.
  • On Friday of this week we will post an online survey that we would like you to fill out. This survey will provide us with your needed input in fine tuning our re-opening plan. This survey will be posted on our website and Facebook page at noon on Friday, June 12 and must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, June 15. The survey asks five questions and will not take long for you to fill out.
  • On Sunday, June 14 we need you to watch our very important Congregational Update at 6:00 p.m. at westhighland.org/live. At this time we will share more important details with you. I urge you to make this a priority as we want everyone in the West Highland family to understand the re-opening plan and the steps that will be taken in the very near future to bring us back to worshiping our God safely in our facilities.

I know I speak for all of our leaders in saying that we can't wait to see you again in person. Let’s be in prayer as we move forward in these uncharted waters.
