Letter to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau
December 30, 2020
Right Hon Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada
c/o Office of the Prime Minister
80 Wellington St.
Ottawa, ON K1A 0A2
Dear Prime Minister Trudeau,
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic the 600 plus families of West Highland Church have continually prayed for you, the members of your government and the premier of Ontario, Mr. Ford. We have asked God to endow you with wisdom, strength and encouragement in the battle against COVID-19. We are grateful for the ways in which we have seen our federal and provincial governments working so closely and cooperatively with each other – a trend which we hope will continue in the coming years when the pandemic is behind us.
Thank you Prime Minister for your leadership and the response of your government to assist Canadians in so many ways during this pandemic. We know you have had difficult decisions to make and that the pressures and strains of the high office you carry have been personally taxing to you and your family during this time. Because of this we want you to know of our resolve to continue to support you in prayer.
In addition to our thanks and prayers, I would request that you consider calling people of faith across our great country to observe a national day of prayer to beseech God to bring an end to the COVID-19 pandemic. This would be in keeping with our cherished Charter of Rights and Freedoms which is prefaced with the words that “Canada is founded upon principles that recognize the supremacy of God and the rule of law.” As our Prime Minister, who has been so faithful in upholding our Charter, your leadership in acknowledging God’s supremacy and calling the nation to prayer would have a positive catalytic effect. It would greatly encourage people of faith, who so often feel disenfranchised in our secular society and it would bring hope to so many who desperately need hope at this time.
In spite of all the good efforts of our federal, provincial and municipals governments, and the medical community, there still is no end in sight to this COVID-19 pandemic which has devastated our economy and adversely affected the lives and health of so many Canadians. With the advent of a new variant of this coronavirus which is 70% more contagious than the current strain in Canada we need to acknowledge our need of God and his help. Your leadership in rallying us to acknowledge God’s supremacy will be a great blessing to Canada.
Thank you for your kind consideration to this request. May you and your family know God’s rich blessing in 2021.
