Christmas Songs

There is no event in all of human history that has so inspired composers to write music than the miracle of Christmas. In almost every culture and language there are many songs, choruses, carols and hymns whose words and melodies have been inspired by the birth of Jesus Christ. In every generation, Christmas songs have been written and they continue to be written as a celebration that God in Christ invaded this planet 2,000 years ago. The miracle of Christmas is something worth singing about. This series will continue for several advent seasons and will focus on the first Christmas songs recorded in Luke’s Gospel – the songs of Elizabeth, Mary, Zechariah, Simeon and the Angels. These are the "Original Christmas Carols” and they are very different from the traditional and contemporary Christmas songs we sing at this time of the year. Each of these songs was a prophetic utterance given by the Holy Spirit and they are packed full of truth about Jesus and the true meaning of Christmas.
