Pastor's Desk: November 3, 2019

From Pastor John's Desk

One of my favourite promises in God’s Word is, “Let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up” (Galatians 6:9). This promise encourages me because, frankly, I do grow weary when I don’t see immediate results.  I’m sure all of us have experienced this from time to time. It is so easy to give up. Persevering in doing good requires a resilience of spirit; it requires unshakeable faith.

Prayer is certainly one area where a “don’t give up” attitude is required. There are some things I have asked God for repeatedly over the years and to this day I have not seen God answer - at least not in the way I imagined. But I am encouraged by this great promise and by others who pray with me, seeking God for the same things.

Committing to pray with others has provided me with the fortitude I need to carry on trusting God and to continue praying when my flesh cries out to stop and give up. So let me encourage you to do the same. I know it sounds like a cliché, but it really is true - there is power in praying with others.

P.S.  I meet weekly with two groups. One every Thursday at 7:00 A.M. to pray for revival, and the other every Saturday at 7:30 P.M.  You are welcome to join us.
